This statue of motherhood Mossi is deposited in front of the hut of the women having difficulties to give birth.

 
Teng-soaba (literally translated in French "chief of lands" guarantor of customs and traditions in Moagha country officiates during this ritual.


The Mossi are a people of Burkina Faso, as well as some adjacent areas of surrounding countries (especially Ghana).

 


Little history lesson about the Mossi:
In the XVth century, a group of conquerors come from the east became established among the voltaic populations (Burkina Faso at present) from the north of the current North-Ghana, and founded three kingdoms (Mamprussi, Dagomba and Nanumba) from which derives the current Mossie society.
